IT'S ALL IN THE DETAIL
Haddington, East Lothian
This bathroom had a number of limitations. A lack of storage, small shower, enclosed feel and some quite harsh lighting. All of which are quite generic issues for a new build property, as we’ve encountered a lot.
As well as fixing problems, such as better heating and damp resolution, there where also a number of features on the wish list such as: zoned, adjustable lighting with night lights; low-maintenance/flush wet floor; and a double his and hers sink.
Let’s go into the details…
The flush wet floor system and frameless shower screen create a more open and spacious feel. Underfloor heating dries the tiles quickly, minimising cleaning and adding ambient warmth - as well as looking great.
The tall Zehnder Ribbon radiator with combined thermostatic valve assembly, allows for drying multiple towels and bath mats, while its angled bars complement the Terrazzo-style large-format tiles.
Matt black accents on the radiator and brassware, combined with knurled handles for better grip, add subtle texture to the overall feel of the bathroom. With oak wood tiles in a herringbone pattern, including a tiled drain cover, for that cohesive look.
Terrazzo porcelain tiles in wet areas, high-grade epoxy black grout for a stain-proof, crack-proof, and a low-maintenance finish. Oak accents in the double vanity unit contrast with the anthracite matt finish plus wall-hung elements and a flush wet room create a spacious look that's easier to clean.
A recessed toilet roll holder and toilet brush, concealed cistern, wall-hung toilet with short projection, rimless pan, easy-clean glaze, soft-close seat, and combined window ledge.
The shower area was fully tiled and tanked with a flush wet floor system and tiled drain cover. Frameless shower screen, double shower outlet system with rain drench and handheld options, tiled recess for toiletries, and angled footrest.
His & hers double wall-hung vanity unit with soft-close drawers, PIR motion sensor night light, large mirror with sensor lighting and anti-steam pads, and his & hers wall-hung toothbrush chargers.
The lighting in particular was given a lot of thought:
• PIR motion sensor low-level light on the vanity
• Strong LED light on the mirror
• Bespoke LED smart system with RGB and CTT colour changing, dimming, music sync, pre-configured scenes, with physical control panel switch and app control. It also can connect with smart home, alexa , google and other tech.
The bathrooms variety of textures and matt surfaces create a luxurious Scandinavian style which is exactly what we wanted with super low-maintenance, making the best possible use of the space.
Every single box was ticked on this project to make the ultimate dream bathroom.
